Two hours driving each way to the 8000’ Mt. Pinos campground and staying up all night to watch the meteor shower was worthwhile to capture one of the buggers on camera. Also some cool shots of the moon and stars you don’t get to see in Los Angeles.
They also have some nice campgrounds with fire pits nestled in pine groves, no entry fee other than an adventure pass for your vehicle, could be a neat spot to go get rowdy….
